Things - Christmas DIY - Advent Calendar House
I wandered into Hobbycraft at the weekend and spotted that they had a load of Christmas things in, so I had to have a peek and found a fab range of wooden advent calendars.
I spotted a wooden house and decided that I wanted to make one. I knew that I wanted a traditional look so I decided to go for a craft paper/house colour for the main colour, red, green and white accents.
The house as bought below...♥
What I used to create the house...♡
♥ Hobbycraft wooden house
♥ Light brown paint
♥ Brown paint
♥ Red paint
♥ Green paint
♥ White paint
♥ Off-white (custom blend) paint
♥ Iridescent glitter
♥ Advent toppers (Hobbycraft)
♥ Wooden Shapes (Hobbycraft) painted white
♥ Paint Brushes
♥ PVA glue
What I did...♡
♥1♥
I painted the whole house in a light brown colour, the roof white, the chimney and bottom red. (I repeated this step about 4 times)
♥ 2 ♥
I painted the drawers in the off white, green and red.
♥ 3 ♥
I then painted the wooden shapes, snowflakes and stars white, candy canes red and the deer brown.
♥ 4 ♥
After I was happy with the opaqueness of the paint finish I added the glitter to the desired parts.
♥ 5 ♥
I allowed everything to dry overnight then added the advent toppers to the draws and placed them in the house in a mixed pattern.
♥ 6 ♥
I then added all the decorations to the house.
The finished house below...♡
I'm really pleased with the result, it did take a long time but hopefully it will last for many years. Any questions please ask, let me know if you decide to decorate one yourself I would love to see your designs.
